I just spent most of the last hour writing this incredibly long post about my goals and dreams for the future, I hit the browser's back button by mistake and bye-bye.
I will not write it, the stuff about NaNo and my story and etteru will eventually make their way into this blog, so no big loss.
As for private stuff, well, it adds up to life is hard, i want to be a writer and i'm taking steps to achieve that goal, blah, whine, blah.
almost immediately the chair became more comfortable. He felt the cushions now beneath him and the arm rests that appeared encouraged him to lean back and smile at his expectant friends. Maybe Eugene wanted him to sit this out, just go back inside his storage unit and hide there in this super comfortable chair. He could close his eyes and fly away to a world where things made sense.
He heard every exclaim in wonder and opened his eyes to see that everyone was at eye level. He looked down, the chair was hovering two feet off the ground. Well, as far as crazy inventions go, this one was pretty convenient. He sat up a little straighter in order to better see where he was going and attempted to stear the chair. He was unsurprised when it answered his lsightest command. He travelled the length of the hallway and down the stairs of the storage unit. His friends followed behind.
Luke complained, “I don’t see how having him hover all over the place is goign to help us find Eugene!” Although everyone else agreed, they believed that Luke was being vocal enough for all of them. However, this idle question was answered when they left the storage unit. John back on the ground and with the novelty of flying worn off, spoke up in agreement with Luke, “we have no transportation, no way of knowing where Eugene is or even of what to do once we find him, if these Zangbar have him.” He paused seeing that he was not the only worried about these things.
“Itza,” he said for once treating her like one of the group, “you said these Zanqbar are dangerous if they have Eugene, there’s nothing we can do.”
She nodded, agreeing, she loved Eugene, but she couldn’t help but resent the world he'd plunged her into. Drew however, wouldn’t stop. “No.” He said definetely, “we will not abandon Eugene. I don’t know about you, but Eugene has helped me out several times in my life and I refuse to leave him to the power of the Zanqbar or anyone else.”
John would have pouted if he weren’t a grown man, “I think that being almost killed by an alien armyis on a higher grade of sacrifice than helping you with some bills.”
“No, there is no fair trade agreement on friendship!” Drew said, he seemed angry. He had taken the whole night’s chain of events with remarkable grace, but now seemed genuinely upset and distraught at the idea of abandoning his friend.
John quietly said, “first things first, you all need transportation.” At these words his chair glowed and a platform seemed to extend from beneath it. Everyone rushed away from the chair as the floor raced after them extending in a large circle around John who still sat on the chair. When the floor had stopped moving everyone stepped on the newly grown platform and five chairs appeared in a semicircle behind John.
Everyone moved to sit until Luke noticed something at the edge of the platform. “You know this groove is the same size as the right edge of my fridge,” he removed the door from his back and placed the back edge in the groove with the screen at eye level if he were sitting. Almost immediately one of the chair zipped right to him facing the fridge door's screen. Hesitantly Luke sat, he playes with the buttons until it seemed as if the chair and its platform were shielded. Everyone looked relaxed, but Jack had been looking around and now he saw a small wall appear directly opposite to Luke he walked towards it, along the top was a groove that would fit his mirror and he unstrapped the belt he held it with and placed it in the groove. It seemed as if it fused with the wall. A keyboard came out of the wall and he sat on the chair that moved to him and faced it.
Seeing what was happening Lenicia and Drew kept their eyes pealed for more. A small circular pedestal appeared near the front of the chair and Lenicia walked towards it. On the top a bowl called invintingly to her ball and she placed it there. Here the most dramatic change occured. The ball glowed its unusual blue and the screen activated and became solid. The platform seemed to grow sides and a wall materialized around the screen as had happened to Jack a keyboard melted out of the wall. When the chair came, Lenicia fell into it in awe of what she’d witnessed. Opposite her a small wall with a ledge pointing towards John appeared and Drew stepped towards it. Without much to go on he took out the deck of cards and spread them out on the ledge. The face cards leapt up and joined together when there were no gaps between them they turned into a screen, the rest of the cards fused into the ledge and became a variety of dials, buttons and measuring devices. With the last card turned into a gage of somekind the chair rose in the air. The four areas that had crisscrossed the circular platform were now joined by walls. John’s chair moved from the center to the front edge a huge screen appeared in front of him, where his chair had previously been another more commanding appeared. The other four chairs were also moved to a more forward central position. Itza’s chair which throughout the platform’s transformation had sat behind John’s was now raised unto a platform and moved to the side several other chairs appeared on the platform. The walls were now a chrome metal and extended all around them. Directly behind the command chair a large door appeared.
When the ship had finished forming and they all felt it must be bigger than the room they occupied Lenicia’s screen flashed. She read aloud the words as they appeared, “Tracking device enabled? What does that mean?”
“I don’t know,” said an alarmed John, “but this thing’s telling me that the autopilot’s been turned on.”
The ship rumbled as it rose in the air. The screens that were all around them showed them the view of Newark as they rose, soon the skyscrapers were tiny and the clouds filled the screens. The screens blacked out while the ship left the atmosphere when they were above the planet the screens were filled with the image of a huge ship. It was impressive in its organic appearance. As tubes and pipes intesected each other over the hull, it seemed as if it had grown from a metal plant more than built. What couldn’t be missed were two large cannons strapped on the top.
“There seems to be a message comming through!” Jack yelled after some brief tapping a commanding voice boomed across the small room, “Surrender or you will be killed!”
Itza rose from her chair, “No! They’ll kill you either way, you are not creatures of the Creator!” She said this with such conviction that Drew who was fiecely religious felt insulted.
“Run!” Luke commanded to John.
“It’s on autopilot and it wants to go straight, I don’t know what to do! The chair before responded to my thoughts!”
“Another message!” Jack said and after she clicked it on the voice boomed, “If you don’t respond in 60 seconds you will be destroyed!”
Somehow Jack managed to display a timer in all of the screens. The clocked counted down as everyone wondered what to do, it seemed there was no right answer.
Luke looked thoughtfully at his screen only barely understanding what his specific machine did. He tried to remember what little science he'd absorbed in school. There were four dimension he vaguely remebered although there might be more, which would explain the ten available to
his machine, but he specifically remembered that time and space were two of them. The clock read 29 seconds left. If he could control those dimension ther was theoretically nothing he couldn't do with this machine. He began to shift through screens stringing together bits of remembered science and Tube shows. 4 seconds left. A large ball was expelled by one of the cannons and a second later it disappeared.
Almost simultaneously their ship jerked to the right and speeded away from the Zanqbar ship.
Lenicia yelled, “my thing says the cannon ball is flying behind the ship, away!”
“It worked!” Luke eclaimed with a whoop!
Lenicia turned to him quickly, “you did that?” She seemed to ignore John’s cry of “I steered the ship away!”
“Yeah,” Luke said almost embarrassed to be the cneter of her focus.
She lept up and threw herself at him kissing him quickly, full of gratitude. He was too shocked to respond and seconds later she was once again sitting in her chair and studying the screen and ignoring Luke’s questioning looks. “They’re following us!” She yelled suddenly then turned to Luke, “you better do whatever you did before!”
Drew spoke up now, “maybe I can get them before they get us.” He began clicking away at his screen having had time to study it while they had been ascending from the planet.
John was now able to move the ship at will although unable to make any drastic changes in their destination, the ship was determined to get somewhere. With Drew shooting back and Luke able to warp anything they were shot with through space. The fugitives were able to stay safe.
“They’re falling away!” Lenicia yelled.
Everyone cheered and Itza feeling isolated in her corner and with nothing to do stood up walked up to the command chair and said, “Good job crew!” and sat on the chair. Everyone laughed and even did a little jig.
Now that the immediate danger was over they breathed a sigh of relief and were determined to explore the ship in greater depth. They all stood up as the ship was quickly propelling itself to whatever destination Eugene had programmed it for and simultaneously small handhelds were expelled from each of their computers. They grabbed them saw that what was displayed on the handheld was the same as their screens and as a group headed towards the dooe that led to the rest of this marvellous machine.
Even John who was quite reluctant to have anything to do with this enterprise was curious about what lay behind that door.
The rest of the ship was as shiny and well equipped as the main control room. Along every wall screens showed them the view outside and slots along side them allowed them to insert their hand helds and use the screens to connect to the main control room. The ship seemed so large that it was almost impossible to think that it had appeared from just five small items. Luke theorized that the ship had been docked somewhere else and the items had only materialized them around them as it was obvious that ship could control all the dimensions of the universe.
Much of the space was given over to bedrooms, kitchens and bathooms. One door which would not open and seemed tolead to much of the lower half of ship said one word which both Jack and Itza announce simoultaneously meant “Engines” , obviously Eugene did not trust them to not mess it up. They wondered who the many living spaces had been created for. They’d decided themselves on eating in one of the larger kitchens when Lenicia’s hand held sounded its alarm and flashed a blinding blue. Lenicia pulled it out and studied it, “there are three ships coming at us from different directions and we are nearing a huge planet!”
They ran for the main control room while John realized that he could move the ship again apparently their destination had always been this planet. Luke however found himself unable to do anything with his controls, the computer was executing some pre-programmed commands that he couldn't bypass.
Drew discovered that with a mostly psychic computer link it was fairly easy to run, work a computer and attacked three ships simultaneaously. However with Luke unable to deflect the barage of cannon balls that were being streamed at them continuously they were taking alot of abuse. The ship swayed from left to right and John tried desperately to escape them as he viewed the scene outside on the screens as they ran past.
Once they arrived at the main control room they were able to do a little better however the Zanqbar soon realized that they were unable to make the cannon balls disappear as they had earlier and began a barage of never ending balls. Drew who with his lasers had earlier considered the cannon balls primitive now wished he could just shoot a large hole through their hull instead of having their shields continuously deflect his shots into so much light.
In the midst of a horrible shot Luke’s screen glowed green and Eugene appeared in front of the command chair and Itza who was once again sitting there. Itza stood, slapped him and moved to sit in the chair she had originally occupied. Eugene threw himself carelessly into the command chair and studied his friend’s positions around him. Lenicia not having noticed this shouted in alarm, “hundreds of people have appeared on the ship!”
Eugene spoke startling them all, “it’s okay, it’s exactly as planned.”
Luke having suddenly regained control of his systems was forced to put aside his questions and turned to the screen to assist Drew and John in their fight against the three ships. They were able to coordinate their movements so that when one ship shot at them Luke transferred the cannon ball to the other side of the ship, it would crash into one of the other ships and Drew would quickly take advantage of their shields momentary failure to blast them with his beloved lasers. In a short time they were done with two, but then three more ships left the planet’s surface and attacked them, they were now surrounded at every point. Eugene laughed out loud at this and everyone turned to him. He quickly punched in a code into the chair's arm. Drew, Luke and John were locked out of their controls and stared in alarm at the mainscreen. It green wave shot out of the ship and caught the four Zanqbar ships in its wake. In seconds the ships had been pulvarized. Drew who had not had any problem with shooting at them very agressively felt sickend at their instantaeneous removal from the living world and even more so when he caught the look of glee on Eugene’s face.
Right now I'm angry and hurt and in pain.
My uncle, whom the older i get the less i can't stand, is here and of course he let the cat out, except the cat hates him with good reason, so even though i say leave the cat in the basement a little and when he gets it out of his system i will get him, he says no, get him now because he will attack me when i go downstairs. i go get him and totally underestimate my cat's dislike of my uncle because the minute he sees my uncle he goes nuts and bites my hand. He's bitten me in a fit before, he's never bitten down this hard he almost took a chunk out of my thumb only almost because the skin is still hanging on 'cause i got him to let go.
It wouldn't stop bleeding for 15 minutes. I have not bid bandages left so I'm wearing half a panty liner over my thumb with electric tape, hey it's just a big band aid right? Still, it hurts to type.
Yes, thank you lord for giving me the chance to prove how badly i want to be a writer by ruining my thumb on my most productive day ever. Thank You.
My cat? Outside.
I feel like one of those abused wives, because I'm worried the cat's going to get hurt out there.
I think I'll leave him outside for ever. I gave him a good chance at surviving, he's got his shots and he's big, fat, healthy and strong.
I wanted a cat to cuddle with, not a lion to fight. (Not a word 402 gurls!)
My uncle, will never find out about my thumb, because I'm a bitch because of my family, no one will give any sympathy, it'll somehow be my fault and anyway they told me so...so i shall suffer in silence, it's okay i'm used to it.
Wow, I'm bitter, yey, God way to turn a happy, productive day into a bitter, painful day, thanks I really appreciate it. I was starting to forget who I really was.
